Industry hails court decision rejecting legal challenges of E15 The ethanol industry responded swiftly and positively to the fact that legal challenges of the U.S. EPA's partial waiver approval of E15 were rejected. The opinion was issued by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. READ MORE SHARE

	Peru producer exports first shipment of ethanol to the EU Peru-based Maple Energy plc has completed its first export sales of ethanol to Mitsui & Co. Ltd. under and existing sales and distribution agreement. According to Maple Energy, the first sale consisted of approximately 1.56 million gallons. READ MORE SHARE
RFA to co-host ethanol safety seminar in Decatur, Ill. The Renewable Fuels Association, Norfolk Southern Corp., CN Railway and Archer Daniels Midland Co. will co-host an Ethanol Safety Seminar in Decatur, Ill., on August 22 at the Richland Community College in the National Sequestration Education Center. Iowa State reserachers grow high-protein fungus with stillage Initial studies show a fungus grown in stillage resulting from ethanol production could be a good energy feed for pigs and chickens. In separate feeding trials, nursery pigs and chickens have eaten high-protein fungi produced in a pilot plant. READ MORE SHARE
European producer announces plant restart European ethanol producer Ensus Ltd. announced it will restart its 400 MMly (106 MMgy) plant in Teesside, U.K. The plant began operations in January 2010, but has been idle for the past 15 months. The facility is Europe's largest wheat ethanol plant. READ MORE SHARE
AdvanceBio supplies SuPR2G reactor to Brazilian laboratory AdvanceBio Systems LLC recently announced that CTBE, the Brazilian Bioethanol Science and Technology Laboratory selected AdvanceBio Systems' SuPR2G Laboratory Scale Pretreatment Reactor to conduct basic research and development work. Court rules ethanol plant not entitled to $1.5 million tax break The Nebraska Court of Appeals has ruled that Bridgeport Ethanol LLC, a 50 MMgy ethanol plant located in Bridgeport, Neb., won't get refunded for the sales and use taxes for manufacturing machinery and equipment purchased when the plant was built. RFS waiver requests filed, the ethanol industry responds North Carolina Gov. Beverly Perdue, Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe, Maryland Gov. Martin O'Mally, and Delaware Gov. Jack A. Markell filed RFS waiver request. The U.S. EPA will open a public comment period and must issue a decision within 90 days. READ MORE SHARE
N.C. Gov. files RFS waiver request, RFA calls for EPA rejection North Carolina Gov. Beverly Perdue has filed an official waiver request of the renewable fuel standard. The Renewable Fuels Association issued a statement calling for the U.S. EPA to reject the waiver request. READ MORE SHARE
Gevo, Butamax each announced additional lawsuits filed The legal battle between Gevo Inc. and Butamax Advanced Biofuels LLC is continuing. On Aug. 14 each announced the filing of a new lawsuit, one claiming patent infringement and the second asking that that patent be declared invalid. READ MORE SHARE
Mass. law delays rail transport of ethanol through Boston A new law in Massachusetts will delay allowing ethanol to be transported via train through Boston and several other cities until a public safety study is conducted. The legislation, H. 4371, was signed into law by Gov. Deval Patrick on August 10. READ MORE SHARE
Cosan quarterly financials show decreased ethanol production Cosan S.A., Brazil's largest sugar and ethanol producer, recently released financial results its first financial quarter of the 2013, which ended June 30. Net revenue associated with Cosan's sugarcane and ethanol segment was down. READ MORE SHARE
Court: Gevo again free to sell isobutanol into auto fuels market A little more than a month after a temporary court order prohibited Gevo from selling bio-isobutanol into the automotive fuels market, the company announced Aug. 13 that the order has been reversed in federal court. READ MORE SHARE
Sen. Nelson honored with award for ethanol advancement On August 10 Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., said that Nebraska must support both its energy and agriculture industries during the drought, shortly after accepting the Merle Anderson award for his decades of contributions to the advancement of ethanol.
