Ace Ethanol completes sale of former Utica Energy plant The sale of the Oshkosh, Wis.-based Utica Energy LLC ethanol plant to Stanley, Wis.-based Ace Ethanol LLC officially closed Aug. 12. The plant will now be a wholly owned subsidiary of Ace Ethanol, and is to be named Fox River Valley Ethanol. READ MORE SHARE
Patriot Renewable Fuels names CHS ethanol marketing partner CHS Inc. was named the ethanol marketing partner of Patriot Renewable Fuels LLC, a 100 MMgy ethanol plant in Annawan, Ill. Schumer calls for phase out or improvement of DOT-111 rail cars On Aug. 13 Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., issued a statement urging the U.S. Department of Transportation to require freight rail carriers to either create a plan to retrofit DOT-111 tank cars, or phase them out completely. USDA announces REAP funding On Aug. 15, the USDA awarded more than $21 million in grant and loan funding to 631 projects under the Rural Energy for America Program. A portion of that funding will support the installation of ethanol blender pumps. READ MORE SHARE
Dyadic announces increased biofuel R&D efforts in Q2 release Dyadic International Inc. has announced financial results for the second quarter of 2013, noting that total revenue for the three-month period decreased to $7.1 million compared to $7.8 million for the same period of last year. Valero pulls out of Mascoma's Michigan proposed plant project Mascoma Corp. says it is actively seeking project financing to build its two proposed cellulosic ethanol plants amid news that Valero Energy Corp. is no longer involved in its U.S. project planned for Kinross, Mich. READ MORE SHARE
BioFuel Energy releases Q2 financial results BioFuel Energy Corp. has its financial results for the second quarter of 2013, reporting a net loss of 44.7 million on revenues of $91 million, and noting that it has received indications of interest from parties regarding the purchase of its plants. Brazil sees increase in ethanol production, sales in late July Brazilian ethanol sales were booming in late July, according to UNICA, the Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association. Specifically, sales by sugar mills in Brazil's South Central region are up more than 30 percent compared to sales early in the month. READ MORE SHARE
Marathon Petroleum acquires interest in 3 ethanol plants On Aug. 1, 2013, Marathon Petroleum Corp. acquired from Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A.) Inc. its interests in three ethanol companies operated by The Andersons for $75 million in cash. READ MORE SHARE
IRFA launches E85 wholesale price listing service The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association has announced the launch of its E85 Wholesale Price Listing Service. The IRFA lists E85 prices from wholesale distributors with the intent of increasing transparency in the marketplace. READ MORE SHARE
Cosan reports increased ethanol production in Q2 financial report Cosan Ltd. and Cosan S.A. Industria E Comercio recently released financial results for the second quarter of 2013, reporting consolidated EBITDA of R$833 million ($364.92 million) and a net revenue of R$8.7 7 billion. READ MORE SHARE
USDA projects 154.4 bu/acre for 13.8 billion bushel corn crop The USDA's monthly supply/demand estimates pegs to the 2013/14 corn crop 187 million bushels lower than last month's report at 13.8 billion bushels, accounting for its first survey-based corn yield forecast for the season of 154.4 bushels per acre.
