Leaked RFS proposal discussed in letter to White House The Biotechnology Industry Organization and the Advanced Ethanol Council issued a letter to the White House on Oct. 29, expressing concerns over a draft proposal for the 2014 renewable fuel standard (RFS) that was leaked earlier this month. Cellulosic biofuel, cellulosic diesel RINs generated in September The U.S. EPA has published new renewable fuel standard (RFS) compliance data, showing that both D3 cellulosic biofuel and D7 cellulosic diesel renewable identification numbers (RINs) were generated in September. READ MORE SHARE
	Industry reacts to congressional letter to EPA on RFS The Renewable Fuels Association and Growth Energy fired back against a letter signed by a group of members of U.S. Congress, which asks the U.S. EPA to "to consider a fair and meaningful nationwide adjustment" to the 2014 renewable fuel standard. Ontario plant to recycle beverages into ethanol, other products Energentium Inc. is finalizing tests before entering into full production in a few weeks at its new 15 MMly (4 MMgy) plant in Brantford, Ontario, to recycle waste beer and soft drinks into ethanol. READ MORE SHARE
E15 now available in Minnesota The first retailer in Minnesota began offering E15 to motorists in late October. Four dispensers began selling E15 to drivers of vehicles model year 2001 or newer at the Penn Minnoco service station in Minneapolis. READ MORE SHARE
CARB files response to LCFS rehearing petition The California Air Resources Board has filed its response to a petition filed in the 9th circuit court to request a rehearing en banc with regard to a prior court ruling the state's low carbon fuel standard does not violate interstate commerce laws. Green Plains sees strong Q3 earnings, positive ethanol outlook Earnings at Green Plains Renewable Energy Inc. made a strong recovery, according to the company's third quarter report. "We believe ethanol industry fundamentals are as positive as we have seen in recent history," said Todd Becker, president and CEO. READ MORE SHARE
ADM reports solid third quarter results, ethanol margin recovery Archer Daniels Midland Co. reported financial results for the third quarter on Oct. 29. One of the highlights was corn processing profit increased $91 million, which ADM attributed to ethanol margin recovery. READ MORE SHARE
New ethanol enzymes perform well for Novozymes Novozymes recently released its nine-month interim financial report, which reveals that the company's new trademarked enzyme technologies, Avantec and Spirizyme Achieve, have been well received by its customers, the company said. READ MORE SHARE
Valero reports improved ethanol margins, increased production Valero Energy Corp. has released its financial results for the third quarter, reporting net income attributable to stockholders of $312 billion, or 57 cents per share, down from $674 million or $1.21 per share during the same period of last year. Ceres, Syngenta continue sweet sorghum work in Brazil Ceres Inc. and Syngenta AG have extended their joint market development agreement in Brazil, where Ceres has been introducing its sweet and high-biomass sorghum varieties at Brazilian ethanol mills. READ MORE SHARE

Draft bill would eliminate corn ethanol portion of RFS The Renewable Fuels Association and Growth Energy are speaking out against draft legislation that would reportedly eliminate the conventional ethanol portion of the renewable fuels standard (RFS). Gov. Nixon discusses corn harvest, ethanol Mo. Gov. Jay Nixon visited a recently expanded grain elevator to discuss the state's strong corn harvest and his priorities for continuing to expand Missouri agriculture by expanding exports of renewable fuels, such as ethanol. READ MORE SHARE
Iowa ethanol producer offers blender pump grants Little Sioux Corn Processors is offering financial assistance to Iowa retailers who install blender pumps. The LSCP board of directors is making $75,000 available to retailers to offset the cost of blender pump installations. READ MORE SHARE
More than 70 percent of top selling cars approved for E15 in 2014 More than 70 percent of the Top 20 best-selling cars as identified by Edmunds / AOL Auto have been explicitly approved by automakers to use E15 in 2014 models. This includes all Ford, GM and Volkswagen 2014 models. READ MORE SHARE
EIA Monthly Energy Review shows rebounding production The U.S. Energy Information Administration has released the October issue of its Monthly Energy Review, reporting that the U.S. ethanol industry produced 1.13 billion gallons of ethanol in July, up from 1.12 billion gallons the prior month. Corn harvest progresses quickly; few prospects for higher prices The corn harvest is progressing rapidly, at 59 percent harvested in the 18 leading corn production states, compared to just 39 percent a week ago, according to USDA's weekly Crop Progress report released Monday. READ MORE SHARE
