EPA proposes 2014 renewable fuels standards Friday, the U.S. EPA proposed 2014 volumes for renewable fuels to be blended into gasoline and diesel: cellulosic at 17 million gal., biomass-based diesel at 1.28 billion, advanced at 2.2 billion and renewable fuel at 15.21 billion gallons. CARD report: Altering RFS would have modest effect on corn prices A new paper from CARD at Iowa State University indicates that if the U.S. EPA does significantly reduce the renewable fuel standard (RFS) renewable volume obligations, it would mean only modestly lower corn prices. READ MORE SHARE
Illinois ethanol plant to build co-located biodiesel plant Adkins Energy LLC, a 48 MMgy ethanol plant located in Lena, Ill., is poised to begin construction on a 2 MMgy co-located biodiesel plant, which will utilize the distillers corn oil separated at the ethanol plant as a biodiesel feedstock. EIA increases 2014 ethanol production forecast The U.S. Energy Information Administration has released the November issue of its Short-Term Energy Outlook, predicting ethanol production will reach 900,000 barrels per day in 2014. Production was 892,000 barrels per day in October. READ MORE SHARE

Biomass, biofuels projects awarded REAP funding through USDA More than $14 million in funding for 424 projects in 22 states, including several biomass- and biofuels-related projects, was recently awarded under the Rural Energy for America Program by Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack. The Andersons report record operating income from ethanol group The Andersons Inc. has released third quarter financial results, reporting record quarterly and year-to-date operating income for the its ethanol segment, which realized operating income of $10.9 million for the quarter on revenues of $213 million.
