The U.S. Energy Information Administration has released the January issue of its Short-Term Energy Outlook, slightly increasing its forecast for 2014 ethanol production to an average of 913,000 barrels per day.

RFA, NCGA weigh in on WASDE, call for support of the RFS


The USDA has released its January WASDE report, announcing that 2013 was a record crop year with a harvest of 13.93 billion bushels. The average yield was 159 bushels per acre. The forecast for corn use for ethanol was increased to 5 billion bushels.

Saskatchewan ethanol plant gets new owner


Ontario-based Just Energy Group Inc. has closed on the sale of Terra Grain Fuels Inc. to a group of undisclosed Saskatchewan businesses. The 150 MMly plant, located in Belle Plaine, Saskatchewan, is expected to continue operations.

A group of cooperatively organized ethanol producers have joined forces to purchase a third ethanol plant for the group, this time in Hankinson, N.D. Guardian Hankison LLC purchased the plant from Murphy USA Inc.'s subsidiary in December.

2013 corn crop adjusted down slightly, global projections up


With the harvest complete and actual numbers replacing estimates, the USDA increased the harvested acres for corn by 436,000 acres and lowered the yield to 158.8 bushels per acre, reducing the figure for total production to 13.9 billion bushels.
