Pacific Ethanol reports record Q1 results, restarts Madera plant Pacific Ethanol Inc. has released its first quarter financial results, reporting record operating income of $34.9 million. The company also announced the restart of its 40 MMgy Madera, Calif.-based plant. READ MORE SHARE
Valero reports record ethanol income in first quarter Valero Energy Corp. has released its financial results for the first quarter, reporting record operating income for its ethanol segment, despite production slowdowns caused by weather-related challenges in transporting ethanol by rail. Green Plains reports record earnings, 34 cent margin for Q1 Green Plains Renewable Energy Inc. reported yet another quarter of record earnings. Net income for the first quarter of 2014 was $43.2 million, or $1.04 per diluted share, compared to $2.6 million, or 8 cents per share, in the same period in 2013. READ MORE SHARE
21 states ask Supreme Court to review California's LCFS Several states are joining the fight to take a legal dispute over California's low carbon fuels standard (LCFS) to the U.S. Supreme Court. On April 21, a group of 21 states requested a review of a lower court ruling that the LCFS is constitutional. READ MORE SHARE

UNICA: Higher percentage of cane harvest to go to ethanol The Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association (UNICA) has announced it is projecting a cane crush of 580 million tons for the 2014/2015 harvest. RFA: API letter to EPA is rife with hypocrisy, misdirection The Renewable Fuels Association said that the oil industry's suggestion that outdated fuel consumption projections should be used to establish 2014 renewable fuel standard requirements amounts to "the highest form of hypocrisy and misdirection."
