UNICA: Ethanol production at 16.46 billion liters through August UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association, has announced mills in the country’s south-central region crushed 38.31 million tons of sugarcane during the second half of August, down 14.56 percent when compared to the first half of the month. Court rules several GS Cleantech patents unenforceable The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana has issued an order finding problems with certain GS CleanTech Corp. patents that are subject to multiple lawsuits filed by the company against many ethanol plants and technology providers. Petrobras to exit biofuel production business On Sept. 20, Brazil-based Petrobras announced plans to withdraw from biofuel production as part of a new strategic plan. The company did not elaborate on future plans for its biofuel assets within its announcement. READ MORE SHARE
RFA hosting 2 ethanol safety seminars in Illinois Sept. 27 The Renewable Fuels Association is hosting two free ethanol safety seminars later this month in Benton, Illinois. Assobari sugarcane producer organization earns RSB certification Assobari is the first organization of sugar cane producers in Brazil to earn the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials certification.
