US ethanol production breaks record for third consecutive week The U.S. ethanol industry has broken production records for three consecutive weeks. Production reached a new record the week ending Jan. 13, averaging 1.054 million barrels per day, according to data released by the U.S. EIA. READ MORE SHARE
Trump nominates Perdue to serve as agriculture secretary President-elect Donald Trump has nominated former Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue to lead the USDA. UNICA: Most Brazilian sugarcane mills wrap up 2016-’17 harvest UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association, has released a crop update for the second half of December, reporting ethanol production reached 24.91 billion liters (6.58 billion gallons) from the start of the current season through Jan. 1. Flint Hills Resources to upgrade Fairmont ethanol plant Flint Hills Resources plans to invest more than $50 million in its Fairmont, Nebraska, ethanol plant to install a new technology that will produce a high protein animal and fish feed ingredient from a portion of the plant’s distiller grains. RFA responds to FAO news that global food prices fell in 2016 The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has announced prices of major global food commodities dropped 1.5 percent from 2015 to 2016. US ethanol exports up 85 percent in Q1 of 2016-’17 marketing year Exports of U.S. ethanol are off to a strong start for the first quarter of the 2016-‘17 marketing year and are at their highest levels during that time frame over the past five years, according to data recently released by the USDA.
