Novella includes politics, sabotage in ethanol industry

A Minneapolis author and Iowa native has published a 196-page novella that includes the history of the ethanol industry, politics and sabotage. Bernard DuClos has written "Article V (the movie)," a story about fictional Iowa Gov. Kathy Brandon and her efforts to promote increased ethanol production in the face of $10-per-gallon gasoline, and her opponents' efforts to squash her resolve.READ MORE

NEVC: E85 available at 1,900 fuel stations

According to the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition, the number of U.S. retail fueling stations offering E85 has reached 1,900. On Jan. 7, the Stop In Food Store #67 in Charlottesville, Va., became the latest station to provide E85 fueling dispensers.READ MORE

Ethanol projects receive Colorado grants

The Colorado Agricultural Value Added Development Board has awarded $200,000 in Advancing Colorado's Renewable Energy grants to four organizations for ethanol-related projects. Projects receiving grants will study the collocation of ethanol facilities and feedlots, a wood pellet production facility, energy crop rotation and the development of an E85 infrastructure in rural Colorado.READ MORE

Tharaldson Ethanol starts up North Dakota plant

Tharaldson Ethanol LLC confirmed that its 120 MMgy corn-based ethanol facility in Casselton, N.D., has completed construction and commenced production. Construction of the $200 million plant began in May 2007, and crews completed construction in late December.READ MORE

Mid-Atlantic to develop low-carbon fuel standard

Eleven Mid-Atlantic states signed a letter of agreement to develop a comprehensive, regional low-carbon fuel standard to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transportation fuels and other sources. The states also agreed to develop a standard on how to use those fuels.READ MORE
