Senate hearing scheduled on bill to extend RVP waiver to E15 The Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works is scheduled to hold a full committee hearing June 14 on legislation that aims to extend the Reid vapor pressure (RVP) waiver to gasoline blends containing more than 10 percent ethanol. 	Senators ask EPA to explain Icahn’s role in shaping the RFS On June 6, a group of five senators sent a letter to U.S. EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt requesting any information the agency has on Carl Icahn’s role in crafting policy and regulations at the EPA, particularly regarding the Renewable Fuel Standard. EIA maintains 2017, 2018 ethanol production forecasts The U.S. Energy Information Administration has released the June edition of its Short-Term Energy Outlook, predicting fuel ethanol production will average 1.03 million barrels per day this year, falling to 1.02 million barrels per day in 2018. Biofuel groups urge support for legislation benefiting E15 sales A group of 28 biofuel producers and trade associations recently sent a letter to members of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, urging them to support a bill that extends the Reid vapor pressure (RVP) waiver to E15. NCGA contest seeks new ways to produce chemicals from corn The National Corn Growers Association and NineSigma have launched a global competition to identify new uses for field corn as a renewable feedstock for chemical production. Entries are due Sept. 28. READ MORE SHARE
USDA maintains forecast for 2017-’18 corn production The USDA has released the June edition of its World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report, reporting projected corn production for 2017-’18 is unchanged at 14.065 billion bushels. READ MORE SHARE

Greenbelt Resources to partner on duckweed-to-ethanol plant The Andrew J. Young Foundation, based in Atlanta, has signed a letter of intent to purchase Greenbelt Resources Corp.’s ethanol production technology for a 500,000-gallon-per-year plant to be sited in the southeast U.S. READ MORE SHARE
European ethanol achieves higher GHG savings in 2016 European renewable ethanol delivered an average of more than 66 percent greenhouse gas (GHG) savings over fossil petrol in 2016, according to new certified data from European ethanol producers. READ MORE SHARE

Rayeman, Saola partner on bolt-on biodiesel technology platform Rayeman Elements Inc. has announced the creation of a Biofuels Division to provide patented and proven technology for the production of biodiesel colocated with ethanol plants. Siouxland Energy receives EPA D3 RIN registration Edeniq Inc., a cellulosic technology company, and Siouxland Energy Cooperative recently announced that the U.S. EPA approved Siouxland Energy’s registration of its 60 MMgy corn ethanol plant for generation of D3 RINs from cellulosic ethanol. Minnesota students visit Heron Lake Bioenergy Eleven students from Worthington High School visited Heron Lake Bioenergy on May 30 to learn about ethanol production. The students, all 12th graders, were briefed on the various processes of ethanol production during the tour. READ MORE SHARE
