Ethanol industry pioneer dies

On Dec. 23, 2008, David Kelsall, 62, passed away. On Jan. 31, the industry will celebrate his life during a special dinner in La Crosse, Wis. Kelsall, who was most recently director of technical services for Lallemand Ethanol Technology, helped start the Alcohol School to educate fuel ethanol and distilled beverage producers in the science of alcohol production.READ MORE

Range Fuels receives $80 million USDA loan

Colorado-based Range Fuels Inc. has received an $80 million loan guarantee from the USDA Rural Development program to build a 20 MMgy commercial-scale cellulosic ethanol plant in Soperton, Ga., which will produce ethanol from wood chips. This is the first-ever loan guarantee given by the USDA for a commercial-scale cellulosic ethanol facility.READ MORE
