On Feb. 11, Green Plains Inc. released fourth quarter 2018 financial results, reporting net income attributable to the company of $53.5 million, or $1.13 per diluted share. The company also indicated it could sell additional ethanol plants this year.

Finland to require 30% biofuel, 10% advanced biofuel by 2030


On Feb. 6, the Parliament of Finland voted in favor of a law that aims to require transportation fuel to be comprised of 30 percent biofuel by 2030, with advanced biofuels accounting for 10 percent of transportation fuel by the same year.

WASDE reduces 2018/19 forecast for corn use in ethanol


The USDA has reduced its 2018/2019 projection for corn use in ethanol production by 25 million bushels when compared to its December forecast in the latest edition of its World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates Report, released Feb. 8.

Senate committee advances Wheeler’s nomination to head the EPA


On Feb. 5, the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works voted 11 to 10 to advance the nomination of Acting EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler to fill the post of administrator of the agency. The full Senate will now consider his nomination.
