Valero: Ethanol earnings down, renewable diesel sales up


Valero Energy Corp. released first quarter 2019 financial results April 25, reporting significantly reduced income for its ethanol segment. The quarterly report was also the company’s first to address its newly established renewable diesel segment.

Novozymes reports drop Q1 bioenergy sales


Novozymes released first quarter 2019 financial results April 24, reporting a 4 percent drop in sales. Bioenergy sales were down 8 percent due primarily to weaker performance of the U.S. ethanol industry, which was impacted by flooding.

EPA: 32.61 million cellulosic RINs generated in March


The U.S. EPA has released renewable identification number (RIN) generation data for March, reporting that nearly 1.59 billion RINs were generated during the month, including nearly 32.61 million cellulosic RINs.

ABFA files for injunction against EPA to prevent additional SREs


The ABFA filed a motion April 24 for a preliminary injunction to prevent EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler from granting any additional small refinery exemptions (SREs) until the resolution of its pending lawsuit against EPA.
