EPA proposes 2020 RVOs, 2021 RVO for biomass-based diesel The U.S. EPA has proposed to require 20.04 billion gallons of renewable fuels to be blended into the U.S. fuel supply next year, up from 19.92 billion gallons in 2019, according to a rulemaking released by the agency July 5. READ MORE SHARE
USDA: May ethanol, distillers grain exports up from 2018 The USDA Foreign Agricultural Service released updated export data July 3, reporting that the U.S. exported nearly 99.61 million gallons of ethanol and approximately 1.02 million tons of distillers grains in May. READ MORE SHARE
	CoBank: Ethanol margins to remain low in 2019 A new report from CoBank’s Knowledge Exchange Division July 2 finds that operating margins for ethanol producers will likely remain weak for the remainder of 2019. The outlook for exports, however, is more optimistic. READ MORE SHARE
UNICA: Anhydrous ethanol production up in early June The production of anhydrous ethanol was up at mills in the south-central region of Brazil during the first half of June. The production of hydrous ethanol, however, was down, according to UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association. READ MORE SHARE
Trade deal opens EU to more ethanol imports from South America A new trade agreement reached June between Mercosur, a South American trade bloc consisting of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, and the European Union is expected to impact ethanol producers in both regions. READ MORE SHARE
Senators aim to limit USDA influence over SRE decisions Several U.S. senators representing oil producing and refining states are trying to limit Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue’s influence over the U.S. EPA’s process of evaluating small refinery exemptions (SREs) under the Renewable Fuel Standard. USDA: No actions expected under Feedstock Flexibility Program The USDA’s Commodity Credit Corp. announced June 28 that it does not expect to purchase and sell sugar under the Feedstock Flexibility Program for crop year 2018, which runs from Oct. 1, 2018 through Sept. 30, 2019. READ MORE SHARE
EIA to update data reporting for biofuels The U.S. Energy Information Administration is seeking a three-year extension with changes to its Petroleum Supply Reporting System. The proposed changes include those related to biofuels reporting. Comments are due July 24. READ MORE SHARE
Gasolinegate: Decades of flawed emission reports endanger public The 263 million gasoline vehicles on American roadways are emitting significantly more harmful emissions than being reported, and the U.S. EPA is ignoring the dangers of toxic compounds in gasoline, according to a new report released this week. Vertimass licenses technology to Alliance BioEnergy Plus Vertimass completed its first technology license agreement with Alliance BioEnergy Plus Inc. in West Palm Beach, Florida, to produce renewable jet fuel along with benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX). READ MORE SHARE
