Bunge, BP form bioenergy joint venture in Brazil Bunge Ltd. and BP plc announced July 22 the formation of BP Bunge Bioenergia, a 50:50 joint venture bioenergy company in Brazil that will operate 11 sugarcane mills to produce ethanol, sugar and renewable electricity. READ MORE SHARE
First shipment of ETBE made with US ethanol arrives in Japan The first shipment of ethyl tert-butyl ether (ETBE) made with U.S. corn-based ethanol has arrived in Japan, marking the country’s new demand for U.S. ethanol-based products and a milestone in U.S. ethanol market development efforts. UNICA: Domestic sales of hydrous ethanol up in June UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association, has released data for the second half of June. The volume of sugarcane processed during the period was up slightly from last year. Production and sales of ethanol remained relatively high. READ MORE SHARE
USDA: $400 million still available for REAP loan guarantees The USDA announced July 18 that more than $400 million is still available for renewable energy system and energy efficiency loan guarantees through the Rural Energy for America Program. Report shows optimism for fuel ethanol use in Korea A recently released report from the USDA Foreign Agricultural Services Global Agricultural Information Network says South Korea may soon revise its regulations to allow the use of ethanol-blended fuel. READ MORE SHARE
US ethanol groups weigh in on Ontario’s E15 plan Growth Energy, the Renewable Fuels Association and the U.S. Grains Council sent joint comments to Ontario’s Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks July 8 regarding its proposed plan and schedule for implementing E15. READ MORE SHARE
Green Biologics to cease operations A former Little Falls, Minnesota, ethanol plant that was converted to biobased butanol and acetone production in 2016 it ceasing operations. Green Biologics Ltd. recently announced it has begun “an orderly closure of operations.” READ MORE SHARE
NGCA approves resolution urging Trump to uphold RFS The National Corn Growers Association has approved a resolution urging President Trump to uphold his commitment to the Renewable Fuel Standard. The NCGA also launched an RFS ad campaign and elected four new members to its Corn Board. READ MORE SHARE
