Siouxland Energy Cooperative, a 90 MMgy ethanol plant in Sioux Center, Iowa, has temporarily idled operations, according to Jeff Altena, Siouxland director of operations and controller. Production will resume when economic conditions improve.

FAS: Columbian ethanol production expected to rise in 2019


The USDA’s Foreign Agriculture Service’s annual Colombia Biofuels Report for 2019 says domestic ethanol production in the country is expected to rise in 2019, while imports of U.S. ethanol are expected to rise at a slower rate.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration maintained its forecast for 2019 ethanol production in its latest Short Term Energy Outlook, released Sept. 10. The forecast for 2020 ethanol production, however, was lowered slightly.
