EIA increases forecasts for 2020, 2021 ethanol production The U.S. Energy Information Administration increased its forecasts for 2020 and 2021 ethanol production in its latest Short-Term Energy Outlook, which was released July 7. 	July WASDE maintains 2020-’21 forecast for corn use in ethanol The USDA reduced its estimate for corn use in ethanol during the 2019-’20 marketing year by 50 million bushels in its latest WASDE report, released July 10. RenovaBio marks important milestones, setbacks Ethanol markets in the U.S. and Brazil have been hit hard by the COVID pandemic, and demand has plummeted. The Brazilian government has proposed a reduced RenovaBio target for 2020 that trims the goal 50 percent, according to EcoEngineers. READ MORE SHARE
Letter urges EPA to address carbon neutrality of crops The Biogenic CO2 Coalition on July 10 issued a statement commending a bipartisan group of four members of Congress for pressing the U.S. EPA to address the concerns of agricultural crop producers and processors in a biogenic CO2 rulemaking. 	EIA: Ethanol production up 2%, stocks increase by 2% U.S. ethanol production was up nearly 2 percent the week ending July 3, while weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol increased by more than 2 percent, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on July 8. CropEnergies: Q1 financial performance better than expected European ethanol producer CropEnergies released first quarter financial results on July 8, reporting reduced revenues, EBITDA and net income. UNICA: Ethanol sales down during first half of June UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association, has announced that ethanol sales by mills in the south-central region of the country were down during the first half of June. Corn ethanol production, however, continued to grow. READ MORE SHARE
Biofuel groups file comments on EPA’s anti-backsliding proposal The Renewable Fuels Association and Growth Energy filed comments with the U.S. EPA on July 8 supporting the agency’s proposed anti-backsliding determination but criticizing the use of outdated and flawed data. READ MORE SHARE
Greenlane system will help Brazilian ethanol plant produce RNG Greenlane Renewables Inc.'s wholly owned subsidiary Greenlane Biogas North America Ltd. has signed a contract with a Grupo Cocal, a Brazlian sugar mill operator, to supply its PSA biogas upgrading system for the production of RNG.
