ADM confirmed on July 30 that two of its dry mill ethanol plants remain idle. The company is taking a data-driven approach to determining a restart date for those plants, and said a strategic review of ADM’s ethanol business is ongoing.

Grassley: Ethanol producers may have to depend on Perdue for aid


Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, said on July 28 that he would like to see $3 billion for ethanol included in a phase four COVID-19 relief package. Legislation released by the U.S. Senate in late July, however, provides no dedicated relief for ethanol.

Ernst urges Wheeler to take action on barriers to E15 growth


Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, sent a letter to U.S. EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler on July 28 urging him to initiate a rulemaking to certify biofuel infrastructure for E15 and remove unnecessary labeling requirements for the fuel blend.

Valero: Q2 ethanol production down, renewable diesel sales up


Valero Energy Corp. released second quarter financial results on July 30, reporting that ethanol production volumes were down approximately 50 percent when compared to the same period of 2019. Renewable diesel sales volumes, however, were up.

EIA: Weekly ethanol production up 5.5%, stocks up 2.4%


U.S. ethanol production was up approximately 5.5 percent the week ending July 24, while weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol increased by about 2.4 percent, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on July 29.

UNICA: Fuel ethanol sales down, ethanol sales for sanitizer up


UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association, has announced ethanol production and sales were down a respective 2 percent and 14 percent during the first half of July despite a 14 percent increase in the volume of sugarcane processed.
