Novozymes on Sept. 16 announced the launch of Fiberex, a comprehensive platform based on novel enzymes and yeast strains to convert corn fiber into ethanol. Fiberex is specifically aimed at breaking down tough fibers in the corn.

EPA: 7 new SRE petitions filed, including 5 gap year SREs


The U.S. EPA has published updated SRE data that reflects the denial of 54 gap year SRE petitions announced by the agency on Sept. 14. The data also shows seven new SRE petitions have been filed in recent weeks, including five new gap year SREs.

EIA: Ethanol production down 2%, stocks fall by 1%


U.S. ethanol production fell by nearly 2 percent the week ending Sept. 11 while weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol fell by 1 percent, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Sept. 16.
