EPA proposes to alter E15 labeling requirements, UST regs The U.S. EPA on Jan. 15 announced it is proposing changes to E15 fuel dispenser labeling requirements. The agency is also proposing to modify underground storage tank regulations to accommodate the safe storage of E15 and higher level blends. READ MORE SHARE
EPA opens comment period on RFS waiver requests The U.S. EPA announced on Jan. 15 it will open a 30-day comment period on several petitions it has received asking the agency to waive Renewable Fuel Standard blending requirements for 2019 and 2020. READ MORE SHARE
	EPA proposes to extend 2019, 2020 RFS deadlines The U.S. EPA is scheduled to publish a proposed rule in the Federal Register on Jan. 15 extending certain Renewable Fuel Standard deadlines for compliance years 2019 and 2020. A public comment period is open through March 11. READ MORE SHARE
Aemetis: Patent award enables launch of ‘Carbon Zero’ plants Aemetis Inc. announced Jan. 15 that its exclusively licensed technology for the production of below zero carbon renewable fuel was awarded U.S. Patent No. 10907184, enabling the launch of Aemetis “Carbon Zero” production plants. EPA finalizes determination on RFS anti-backsliding study The U.S. EPA has announced its final anti-backsliding determination for renewable fuels and air quality. The agency has finalized its proposed determination no additional measures are necessary to mitigate adverse air impacts from the RFS. READ MORE SHARE
	Green Plains completes York USP upgrade Green Plains Inc. has announced the completion of its upgrade to USP grade alcohol at its York, Nebraska biorefinery. The York upgrade included the installation of a new distillation production unit, and remains capable of producing up to 50 MMgy. READ MORE SHARE
EIA: Ethanol production up 1%, stocks up 2% U.S. ethanol production was up nearly 1 percent the week ending Jan. 8, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Jan. 13. Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol increased by nearly 2 percent. READ MORE SHARE
CoBank: Ethanol industry continues to recover in Q4 The ethanol sector continued to recover during the fourth quarter of 2020 with production levels up 3.5 percent when compared to the third quarter, according to a new quarterly report released by CoBank’s Knowledge Exchange on Jan. 14. DOE makes changes to biomass, biofuel advisory committees The U.S. Department of Energy is terminating the Biomass Research and Development Technical Advisory Committee, but a newly established Fuels of the Future Advisory Board will have a standing subcommittee dedicated to biofuels. EIA: Ethanol production to average 1.02M barrels per day in 2022 The U.S. EIA has released is Short-Term Energy Outlook for January, The EIA currently predicts ethanol production will average 1.02 million barrels per day next year, up from 980,000 barrels per day in 2021. READ MORE SHARE
