RFA: DC Circuit Court stays EPA action granting refinery waivers In response to an emergency motion filed Jan. 19 by the RFA, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit on Jan. 21 ordered that EPA’s action on to grant three SREs must be “administratively stayed pending further order of the court." READ MORE SHARE
EPA: 18.26 billion RINs generated in 2020 under RFS Nearly 18.26 billion RINs were generated under the RFS in 2020, down from 19.81 billion generated in 2019, according to data published by the U.S. EPA. Total RIN generation for December was at 1.69 billion, down from 1.79 billion in December 2019. READ MORE SHARE

Aemetis announces $16.8M in California CEC and utility grants Aemetis Inc. announced that its “Carbon Zero” biofuels production process has received $16.8 million of solar energy and other energy efficiency grants to fund upgrades of the Keyes, California, plant to support the production of zero carbon biofuel. 	EIA: Ethanol production up slightly, stocks down U.S. ethanol production was up less than 1 percent the week ending Jan. 15 while weekly ending stocks were down slightly, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Jan. 22. READ MORE SHARE
Legislation introduced to establish CFS in New Mexico Legislation introduced in New Mexico on Jan. 19 aims to establish a Clean Fuel Standard within the state. The bill is supported by New Mexico Gov. Lujan Grisham, the Low Carbon Fuels Coalition, and the Biotechnology Innovation Organization. READ MORE SHARE
EPA issues last-minute approval of 3 SREs The U.S. EPA late on Jan. 19 published updated small refinery exemption (SRE) data showing that the agency has approved three new SRE petitions, one for Renewable Fuel Standard compliance year 2018 and two for compliance year 2019. READ MORE SHARE
India takes action to increase use, production of ethanol India is taking action to increase domestic production and use of ethanol. The government in December opened a comment period on draft standards related to the country’s plans to introduce E85 and E100 vehicles into regions with an ethanol surplus. READ MORE SHARE
Green Plains announces clean sugar project in Nebraska Green Plains Inc. and Ospraie Management announced that recently acquired Fluid Quip Technologies is engineering and constructing a fully scalable commercial Clean Sugar Technology production facility at the Green Plains York Innovation Center.
