Walz urges Biden to support biofuels through 2 executive orders Gov. Tim Walz, chair of the Governors’ Biofuel Coalition, on Feb. 10 sent a letter to President Biden urging him to issue executive orders banning the use of aromatics in gasoline and adopting new Renewable Fuel Standard regulations. EIA predicts gradual increase in biofuel use through 2050 The U.S. Energy Information Administration released its Annual Energy Outlook 2021 (AEO2021) on Feb. 3, predicting that the consumption of biofuels as a share of the domestic fuel mix will gradually increase through 2050. READ MORE SHARE
	GREEN Act includes biofuel, bioenergy tax extenders Rep. Mike Thompson, D-Calif., chairman of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures, on Feb. 5 announced the introduction of the GREEN Act, which includes several tax extenders that would benefit biofuels and bioenergy. USDA maintains outlook for 2020-’21 corn use in ethanol The USDA maintained its forecast for 2020-’21 corn use in ethanol in its latest World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report, released Feb. 9. EIA: Ethanol production up slightly, stocks down 2% U.S. ethanol production was up slightly the week ending Feb. 5, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Feb. 10. Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol fell by more than 2 percent. READ MORE SHARE
Groups testify against EPA’s proposed RFS deadline extensions Representatives of the biofuels industry testified against the U.S. EPA’s proposed extension of the 2019 and 2020 RFS compliance deadlines during a Feb. 9 virtual hearing.
