Poet LLC is considering the purchase of Flint Hills Resources’ six ethanol plants. The two companies are currently in exclusive discussions over the possible sale of Flint Hills Resources’ biofuels business, according to a Poet spokesperson.

Inslee signs bill to implement CFS in Washington


Washington Gov. Jay Inslee on May 17 signed legislation that will create a state-wide Clean Fuel Standard that will limit the aggregate, overall greenhouse gas emissions per unit of transportation fuel energy to 20 percent below 2017 levels by 2035.

EIA: US ethanol production up 3%, stocks down 5%


U.S. ethanol production was up approximately 3 percent the week ending May 7, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on May 12. Fuel ethanol stocks were down more than 5 percent from the previous week.

WASDE: Corn use for ethanol to rebound in 2021-‘22


The USDA predicts corn use for ethanol will increase in 2021-’22, according to projections included in its latest WASDE report, released May 12. The outlook for domestic corn production was also raised, as was the expected season-average corn price.

The EIA maintained its forecasts for 2021 and 2022 ethanol production in a forecast released May 11. The outlook for 2021 ethanol blending was increased slightly. The EIA also discussed the recent spike in corn, ethanol and RIN prices.
