Poet considers purchase of Flint Hills Resources’ ethanol plants Poet LLC is considering the purchase of Flint Hills Resources’ six ethanol plants. Inslee signs bill to implement CFS in Washington Washington Gov. Jay Inslee on May 17 signed legislation that will create a state-wide Clean Fuel Standard that will limit the aggregate, overall greenhouse gas emissions per unit of transportation fuel energy to 20 percent below 2017 levels by 2035. DOE’s ARPA-E awards $35 million to 15 biofuel projects The U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy on May 14 awarded $35 million to 15 research projects that aim to advance new technologies to decarbonize biorefinery processes. READ MORE SHARE

EIA: US ethanol production up 3%, stocks down 5% U.S. ethanol production was up approximately 3 percent the week ending May 7, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on May 12. WASDE: Corn use for ethanol to rebound in 2021-‘22 The USDA predicts corn use for ethanol will increase in 2021-’22, according to projections included in its latest WASDE report, released May 12. Fluid Quip to install HQA system at Ohio ethanol plant Fluid Quip Technologies has announced it will install a high-quality alcohol (HQA) system at the Three Rivers Energy Coshocton, Ohio, biofuel plant. EIA maintains 2021, 2022 ethanol forecasts, discusses corn prices The EIA maintained its forecasts for 2021 and 2022 ethanol production in a forecast released May 11.
