ORNL: Catalyst holds promise for ethanol-to-jet fuel conversion In the first step of a multi-step ethanol-to-jet-fuel process developed by DOE’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, a catalyst is used to convert ethanol into butene-rich C3+ olefins, intermediates that can then be processed into aviation fuels. EIA: Ethanol production up 2%, stocks up 3% U.S. fuel ethanol production expanded by more than 2 percent the week ending May 28, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on June 3. Ethanol stocks were up by more than 3 percent. READ MORE SHARE
	UNICA: Ethanol sales up 10% for first half of May UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association, has announced that anhydrous ethanol production was up significantly during the first half of May. IFF to commercialize DSM yeast technology IFF’s Health & Biosciences division announced June 2 that it has entered into an agreement to offer advanced yeasts for first generation ethanol production developed by DSM Bio-based Products & Services. READ MORE SHARE

Agricultural feedstock costs drive RIN prices to all-time highs The prices of RIN credits—the compliance mechanism used for the RFS program administered by the U.S. EPA—sharply increased through April of this year, and they are now higher than at any time during the 13-year history of the RFS program. EIA: Biofuel capacity falls slightly in March, feedstock use up The U.S. Energy Information Administration released data on May 28 that shows 20.577 billion gallons of U.S. biofuel production capacity was in place in March, down slightly from 20.64 billion gallons in February. READ MORE SHARE
