Supreme Court reverses Tenth Circuit decision on SRE ‘extensions’ The U.S. Supreme Court on June 25 reversed the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeal’s January 20, 2020, decision on small refinery exemptions (SREs), ruling that the U.S. EPA can extend SREs to small refineries whose earlier temporary exemptions had lapsed. 	Brown signs bill approving E15 in Oregon Oregon Gov. Kate Brown on June 23 signed a bill that clarifies the ability of retailers to sell E15. According to Growth Energy, Oregon has become the 48th state to approve sales of the fuel blend. READ MORE SHARE
Iowa establishes carbon sequestration task force Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds on June 22 signed an executive order to establish a carbon sequestration task force. Stakeholders representing the ethanol, biodiesel and biogas industries have been named as initial members of the new task force. READ MORE SHARE
Canada launches $1.5 billion Clean Fuels Fund The government of Canada on June 21 launched a C$1.5 billion Clean Fuels Fund with a call for proposals for projects that will increase the country’s capacity to produce clean fuels, including ethanol, renewable diesel, SAF, RNG and others. 	Senate passes Growing Climate Solutions Act The U.S. Senate on June 24 voted 92 to eight to pass the Growing Climate Solutions Act, which aims to break down barriers for farmers and foresters interested in participating in carbon markets so they can be rewarded for climate-smart practices. EIA: Ethanol production up 2%, stocks up 3% U.S. fuel ethanol production was up more than 2 percent the week ending June 18, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on June 23. Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol were up nearly 3 percent. READ MORE SHARE
ePURE: EU ethanol sets new record for GHG reduction Production and use of renewable ethanol from ePURE members reduced greenhouse-gas emissions by an average of more than 75 percent compared to fossil fuels in 2020, according to newly certified data released by ePURE. READ MORE SHARE
