RFA: DC Circuit Court blasts refiner arguments on RFS


The RFA on July 16 welcomed the D.C. Circuit Court’s outright rejection of arguments from oil refiners that the RFS causes them economic hardship and therefore the U.S. EPA should have waived their 2019 RFS obligations.

EPA: 1.77 billion RINs generated in June


The U.S. EPA has published updated renewable identification number (RIN) generation data, reporting that more than 1.77 billion RINs were generated under the RFS in June, up from 1.51 billion generated during the same month of last year.

EPA: 6 SRE petitions withdrawn, 64 currently pending


The U.S. EPA released updated small refinery exemption (SRE) data on July 15, reporting that six SRE petitions have been withdrawn in the past month. There are now 64 SRE petitions pending, down from 70 in June.

EIA: Ethanol production down 2%, stocks fall slightly


U.S fuel ethanol production fell by more than 2 percent the week ending July 9, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on July 14. Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol were down slightly.

Summit acquires Kansas ethanol plant, plans retrofit to wheat


Summit Agricultural Group, through its investment affiliate Summit Ag Investors, has announced the acquisition of Prairie Horizon Agri-Energy. Summit will retorfit the facility to produce ethanol and protein ingredients from wheat feedstock.
