USDA: US ethanol exports at 52 million gallons in July


The U.S. exported 51.64 million gallons of ethanol and 1.06 million metric tons of distillers grains in July, according to data released by the USDA FAS on Aug. 2. Exports of both products were down when compared to July 2020.

EPA seeks to reconsider 31 SREs approved in 2019


The U.S. EPA on Aug. 25 filed a motion with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit asking the court to remand, without vacatur, 31 SREs approved by the agency for RFS compliance year 2018 under the Trump administration in 2019.

EIA: US biofuel capacity, feedstock consumption down in June


U.S. biofuel production capacity was down in June, falling to 20.732 billion gallons per year, down from 20.792 billion gallons per year in May. Total feedstock consumption was at 26.166 billion pounds in June, down from 26.768 billion pounds in May.

E10 now available in the UK


The U.K. officially adopted an E10 blend as the standard grade of gasoline on Sept. 1, a change that the U.K. Department for Transport said could cut carbon dioxide emissions by up to 750,000 metric tons per year.

EIA: Ethanol production down 3%, stocks down 1%


U.S. fuel ethanol production fell by 3 percent the week ending Aug. 27, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Sept. 1. Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol were down nearly 1 percent.

IRFA issues open letters to Sanders, Cruz on RFS, ethanol


The IRFA Aug. 27 issued open letters to Sens. Bernie Sanders and Ted Cruz. The letter to Sanders urges him to rethink his support for the Zero-Emission Vehicles Act, while the letter to Cruz asks him to revisit his stance on ethanol and the RFS.

UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association, has announced sugarcane processing was down nearly 7 percent in early August. Anhydrous ethanol production was up for the period, while ethanol sales were down.
