EPA: 1.7 billion RINs generated in August


More than 1.7 billion renewable identification numbers (RINs) were generated under the Renewable Fuel Standard in August, up from 1.6 billion generated during the same period of last year, according to data released by the U.S. EPA on Sept. 16.

EPA: 3 new SRE petitions filed, 62 SRE petitions now pending


The U.S. EPA on Sept. 16 published updated small refinery exemption (SRE) data, reporting that there are currently 62 SRE petitions pending under the Renewable Fuel Standard, up from 59 that were pending as of mid-August.

Iowa agency schedules public meetings on proposed CCS pipeline


A series of public informational meetings is under way in Iowa to inform landowners about a proposed CO2 pipeline under development by Summit Carbon Solutions. The pipeline is part of a CCS project that aims to sequester CO2 from ethanol plants.

USDA raises forecast for corn yields


The USDA currently predicts U.S. corn yields will average 176.3 bushels per acre this year, up 1.7 bushels from the August forecast and up 4.3 bushels when compared to 2020, according to the agency’s latest Crop Production report, released Sept. 10.

EIA: Ethanol production up 2%, stocks down 2%


U.S. fuel ethanol production expanded by nearly 2 percent the week ending Sept. 10, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Sept. 15. Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol were down nearly 2 percent.

Aemetis Biogas signs utility pipeline interconnect agreement


Aemetis Inc. announced that its subsidiary Aemetis Biogas LLC has signed the standard renewable gas interconnection agreement (SRGIA) with the PG&E and funded the final $1.2 million payment for installation of PG&E’s interconnection equipment.
