RFA calls California’s zero-emission vehicle rule disappointing


CARB on Aug. 25 approved a rule that aims to phase out the sale of new cars and light-duty trucks with internal combustion engines by 2035. The RFA called the rule disappointing and is highlighting the GHG reduction impacts of the LCFS.

Canada to import a record volume of US ethanol in 2022


Fuel ethanol consumption in Canada is expected to grow by approximately 8.6 percent this year, according to a report filed with the USDA. Imports of U.S. fuel ethanol are expected to reach a record 1.5 billion liters (396.26 million gallons).

CB Bioenergia to construct grain-based ethanol plant in Brazil


Brazil-based CB Bioenergia plans to develop a 10 MMly (2.64 MMgy) ethanol plant in Rio Grande do Sul, according to a statement released by the state government on Aug. 23. The facility will process wheat, triticale and corn feedstock.

USDA: Corn use for fuel ethanol at 442 million bushels in June


The USDA recently released its Grain Crushings and Co-Products Production report for August, reporting that corn use for fuel ethanol production in June was down when compared to the previous month, but up when compared to June 2021.

EIA: Ethanol production up slightly, stocks up 2%


U.S. fuel ethanol production capacity was up slightly the week ending Aug. 19, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Aug. 24. Stocks of fuel ethanol were up nearly 2 percent.

EIA: Total US biofuel capacity at 21 billion gallons per year


As of January 1, 2022, biofuel plant production capacity in the United States reached 21 billion gallons per year (gal/y) from 275 facilities. More than four-fifths of U.S. biofuel production capacity was for fuel ethanol.
