EPA delivers proposed rule to set 2023 RFS RVOs to the OMB The U.S. EPA on Nov. 9 delivered its proposed rule to set RFS blending obligations for 2023 and beyond to the White House Office of Management and Budget. Threat of freight rail strike delayed until early December The threat of a freight railroad strike has been pushed back from Nov. 20 to at least Dec. 4 after the BMWED, a union representing rail workers, has extended its cooling off period. A rail strike would negatively impact U.S. ethanol producers. READ MORE SHARE
	USDA maintains forecast for corn use in ethanol The USDA maintained its forecast for 2022-’23 corn use in ethanol in its latest World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report, released Nov. 9. The forecasts for corn production and ending stocks were raised. READ MORE SHARE
Gevo begins RNG production, discusses timeline for SAF project Gevo Inc. announced progress with its RNG project during a Q3 earnings call held Nov. 8. The company also provided an update on its SAF project under development in South Dakota and discussed plans to pursue CCS. READ MORE SHARE
Western Plains to install Whitefox ICE-XL system Whitefox, a bioethanol membrane engineering innovator, has announced that Western Plains Energy LLC will be the first U.S. ethanol producer to install Whitefox ICE-XL system at its 50 MMgy ethanol plant in Kansas. READ MORE SHARE
	Alto announces plans to further diversify operations Alto Ingredients Inc. on Nov. 7 released third quarter financial results and announced it has entered into a $125 million senior secured term loan facility that will support efforts to complete strategic upgrades. READ MORE SHARE
Biofuel groups participate in Treasury roundtable on IRA The Renewable Fuels Association and Growth Energy are among the organizations that participated in a virtual roundtable with the U.S. Department of Treasury on Nov. 7 that focused on implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act. EIA: Ethanol production up 1%, stocks down slightly U.S. fuel ethanol production expanded by 1 percent the week ending Nov. 4, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Nov. 9. Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol fell slightly. READ MORE SHARE
USGC: Workshop in Japan highlights benefits of US ethanol In early October, U.S. Embassy Tokyo, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) co-hosted a technical workshop on the economic and environmental benefits of U.S. corn ethanol. Ethanol production in Brazil expected to increase 9% this year Total ethanol production in Brazil is expected to be up nearly 9 percent this year, with fuel ethanol production up by nearly 8 precent, according to a report filed with the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service’s Global Agricultural Information Network. Summit Carbon Solutions achieves new project milestone Summit Carbon Solutions has signed approximately 3,400 easement agreements totaling 1,030 miles across Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota.
