United, Tallgrass and Green Plains partner on ethanol-based SAF United Airlines, Tallgrass, and Green Plains Inc. have announced a new joint venture – Blue Blade Energy – to develop and then commercialize a novel sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) technology that uses ethanol as its feedstock. Brazil reinstates tariff on ethanol imports The government of Brazil on Feb. 1 announced it has reinstated its tariff on fuel ethanol imports. The import tax will be set at 16 percent through the end of 2023, increasing to 18 percent next year. READ MORE SHARE
	EIA: Biofuel capacity, feedstock consumption up in November U.S. operable biofuels production capacity was up in November, with gains for both ethanol and renewable diesel, according to data released by the U.S. EIA on Jan. 31. Total feedstock consumption was up slightly from October. READ MORE SHARE
Walz includes biofuel infrastructure funding in budget proposal Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has included a proposed $1.5 million in annual in biofuel infrastructure funding in his proposed budget, which was delivered to the state legislature on Jan. 24. Axens, Praj sign MOU for SAF projects in India Axens and Praj have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to work jointly on projects in India for production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from low carbon alcohols through alcohol-to-jet (ATJ) pathway. READ MORE SHARE
	Report: Philippines considers voluntary move to E15, E20 blends The government of the Philippines is currently studying the possibility of allowing the use of gasoline blends containing up to 20 percent ethanol, according to a report filed with the USDA FAS Global Agricultural Information Network. Nippon Paper announces MOU for cellulosic ethanol, SAF Nippon Paper Industries Co. Ltd., Sumitomo Corp. and Green Earth Institute Co. Ltd. are partnering on the production of cellulosic bioethanol from woody biomass in Japan and its development into bio-chemicals and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). READ MORE SHARE

EIA: Ethanol production up 2%, stocks down 3% U.S. fuel ethanol production was up nearly 2 percent the week ending Jan. 27, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Feb. 1. Weekly ending stocks were down nearly 3 percent. READ MORE SHARE
USGC opens India office, enhances ethanol promotion efforts In a country where the USGC has had a presence for decades, the organization held its official ribbon-cutting ceremony in India in January to mark the opening of its office there. UNICA: Ethanol sales up in early January UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association, has released data showing that ethanol sales during the first half of January were up slightly when compared to the same period of 2021. Ethanol production was also up for the two-week period. READ MORE SHARE
