Illinois governor signs bill establishing SAF tax credit Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker on Feb. 3 signed the Invest in Illinois Act. The legislative package, in part, creates a $1.50 per gallon sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) purchase tax credit to support the supply and use of SAF within the state. READ MORE SHARE
Lawmakers urge action on Midwest E15 petition A bipartisan group of 31 federal lawmakers are urging the Biden administration to “swiftly and diligently” take action on a petition filed by a coalition of Midwest governors in April 2022 seeking a permanent solution to year-round E15 sales. 	USDA: US ethanol exports at 1.35 billion gallons in 2022 U.S. ethanol exports were down in December, falling to 74.17 million gallons. Exports for the full year reached 1.35 billion gallons, up when compared to 2021, according to data released by the USDA on Feb. 7. READ MORE SHARE

USDA lowers forecast for 2022-’23 corn use in ethanol production The USDA lowered its forecast for 2022-’23 corn use in ethanol production in its latest World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report, released Feb. 8. The outlook for corn ending stocks was increased. READ MORE SHARE

Green Plains: Q4 operations impacted by weather, rail delays Green Plains Inc. released fourth quarter financial results on Feb. 8, reporting that the company’s operations were impacted by high corn prices, rail embargoes, and cold weather during the three-month period. READ MORE SHARE
DOE funds bioenergy carbon capture projects The U.S. Department of Energy on Jan. 30 awarded $131 million for 33 carbon management projects. At least four of the funded projects specifically address carbon capture related to bioenergy and biofuels. READ MORE SHARE
EIA maintains forecast for 2023 ethanol production The U.S. Energy Information Administration maintained its forecast for 2023 fuel ethanol production in its latest Short-Term Energy Outlook, released Feb. 7. The forecast for 2024 ethanol production was reduced slightly. READ MORE SHARE
DOE announces $25.5 million to improve biofuels, bioproducts The U.S. Department of Energy announced $25.5 million in funding to enable the sustainable use of domestic biomass and waste resources, such as agricultural residues and algae, to produce low-carbon biofuels and bioproducts. RFA reports highlight record value of ethanol, coproduct exports According to new statistical reports released by the RFA, the value of the U.S. ethanol industry’s exports soared to a record level of $7.2 billion in 2022. Ethanol export volumes strengthened to 1.35 billion gallons in 2022. READ MORE SHARE
