Low-oil DDGS provides less energy, more protein in pig diets

Given greater oil-extraction efficiencies at corn ethanol plants, the resulting coproducts, DDGS, are lower in fat. That means less energy for pigs and other livestock consuming DDGS as part of their diet, according to reserachers.
The Department of Energy on Jan. 23 announced it will award up to $96 million for bioenergy research and development to reduce the price of drop-in biofuels, lower the cost of biopower, and enable high-value products from biomass or waste resources.
