California Ethanol + Power on April 3 announced that Booker Tate Ltd. will help guide sugarcane cultivation plans for Sugar Valley Energy, a proposed bioenergy project in California that is expected to produce ethanol, biogas, power and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).&nbsp;Plans for the biorefinery project have been ongoing for more than a decade. Once operational, the proposed Sugar Valley Energy facility is expected to produce up to 76 MMgy of low-carbon ethanol from sugarcane, 42 megawatts (MW) of biobased electricity, and 1.43 million Btu of pipeline quality renewable natural gas (RNG). Additional coproducts include soil amendments, biogenic carbon dioxide, field residue and green fly ash. In January, CE+P <a href="https://ethanolproducer.com/articles/sugar-valley-energy-biorefinery-to-address-saf-market">announced</a> plans for the biorefinery are being expanded to produce up to 61 MMgy of SAF via the addition of alcohol-to-jet (ATJ) technology.&nbsp;The partnership with U.K.-based Booker Tate, an international sugar and agribusiness consultant, will help guide sugarcane cultivation plans and ethanol production for Sugar Valley Energy. According to CE+P, Booker Tate offers expertise in sugarcane, farming, bioenergy and ethanol refinery and has provided management and technical leadership on more than 1,500 projects in 120 countries over the past 55 years.&nbsp;“As we proceed through the final financing phase of our project to our anticipated construction, CE+P is excited to partner with one of the world’s most preeminent experts on sugarcane and ethanol production,” said CE+P CEO Dave Rubenstein. “Sugar Valley Energy has an exceptionally strong team to deliver the project and its numerous regional economic and community benefits.”&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;Booker Tate will supply the Sugar Valley Energy project with management and engineering personnel to work in concert with the project’s EPC contractor during the construction and operational startup phases. Functional roles will include civil, electrical, mechanical and instrument engineers as well as agricultural managers and agronomists to review all aspects of local sugarcane production.“We have been working closely with CE+P and the Sugar Valley Energy team from the original investigation of the project concept to the current financial phase.
