UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association, has announced that sugarcane processing during the first half of February was up when compared to same period of the previous year. Ethanol production and sales were also up significantly.Mills in the south-central region of Brazil processed 548,580 metric tons of sugarcane during the first half of February, up from only 73,180 metric tons processed during the same period of last year. Total sugarcane processing since the beginning of the current harvest season, which began April 1, 2023, reached 646.6 million metric tons, up 19.03% when compared to the same period of the previous harvest season.&nbsp;Mills in the region produced 384.98 million liters (101.7 million gallons) of ethanol during the first half of February, up 85.44% when compared to the same two-week period of last year. Production included 233.32 million liters of hydrous ethanol, up 97.74%, and 151.66 million liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 69.24%. Corn ethanol accounted for 356.17 million liters, or 93% of production during the first half of February, up 75.74% when compared to the same period of last year.&nbsp;Total ethanol production since the beginning of the current harvest season reached 32.48 billion liters, up 15.53% when compared to the same period of the previous harvest season. Production included 19.46 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, up 20.54%, and 13.03 billion liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 8.78%. Corn ethanol production has accounted for 5.52 billion liters of production so far this harvest season, up 43.59%.&nbsp;Mills in the south-central region sold 1.3 billion liters of ethanol during the first half of February, up 18.83% when compared to the same period of last year. Sales included 826.82 million liters of hydrous ethanol, up 41.57%, and 473.43 million liters of anhydrous ethanol, down 7.2%. Domestic sales were at 1.28 billion liters, including 805.52 million liters of hydrous ethanol, up 41.6%, and 473.2 million liters of anhydrous ethanol, down 4.62%.&nbsp;Total sales since the beginning of the current harvest season reached 28.24 billion liters, up 9.75%. Sales included 17.09 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, up 16.67%, and 11.16 billion liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 0.62%.&nbsp;&nbsp;
