UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association, has announced sugarcane processing and ethanol production were both up during the second half of August. Ethanol sales for the full month were up more than 9 percent from last year.Mills in the south-central region of Bazil processed 46.52 million tons of sugarcane during the second half of August, up 5.22 percent when compared to the same period of 2022. Total sugarcane processing since the beginning of the current harvest season, which began April 1, reached 406.64 million tons, up 10.9 percent when compared to the same period of last year.&nbsp;Ethanol production for the two-week period reached 2.31 billion liters (310.24 million gallons), up 2.17 percent. Production included 1.42 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, up 8.13 percent, and 889.73 million liters of anhydrous ethanol, down 6.08 percent. Corn ethanol accounted for 10 percent, or 2137.27 million liters, of production during the second half of August, up 20.17 percent when compared to the same period of last year.Total ethanol production since the beginning of the current harvest season reached 19.1 billion liters, up 6.26 percent. Production included 11.17 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, up 1.61 percent, and 7.92 billion liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 13.6 percent. Corn ethanol accounted for 2.47 billion liters of production, up 46.28 percent.&nbsp;Mills in the south-central region sold 2.95 billion liters of ethanol in August, up 9.14 percent when compared to the same month of last year. Sales included 1.15 billion liters of anhydrous ethanol, down 5.02 percent, and 1.8 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, up 20.57 percent. Domestic sales for August included 1.61 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, up 15.35 percent, and 1 billion liters of anhydrous ethanol, down 6.84 percent.&nbsp;Total ethanol sales since the start of the current harvest season reached 12.58 billion liters, up 2.7 percent. Sales included 7.09 billion liters of hydrous ethanol, down 2.36 percent, and 5.48 billion liters of anhydrous ethanol, up 10.08 percent.&nbsp;&nbsp;
